The Cabinet of Ministers has granted formal approval to award the infrastructure development contract for the 100 MW/100 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) located at the Kolonnawa Grid Substation. The greenlit project aims to stabilize national grid frequency, improve renewable energy integration, and prevent unexpected localized power outages across grid transmission points.
